Shinjuku Gyoen In Spring
Some photo excursions start out one way, and end another. The cherry blossoms were foretold to bloom in mid-March, brought earlier and earlier by the advent of Global Warming. Yet, as I strode through Shinjuku’s National Garden in search of that coveted Japanese subject, there was little to be found, so inspiration was sought elsewhere in the trees.
There is something about looking up that I find fascinating. I’m not enough of an expert to know what variety of tree those are, but their height and proximity above was very striking.
Oh, and there was one lone cherry blossom that had come out to play. It ended up being one of the few that I got to photograph this season, so I’ll cherish it, even if the viewing wasn’t as dream-like as some years in the past.
