Nissan Heritage Collection
Bucket list meet agenda planner. Yes, this was real, and it was a visit that I had been waiting a long time to experience. Mercedes, Lamborghini have public buildings dedicated to their history as museums. In the land of the Rising Sun, things are a bit more exclusive. Nissan’s collection is a by-appointment affair, and the two hours I got was something to be treasured.
The warehouse is a simple layout which does not allow much space to walk around and examine each individual car. Quantity is the name of the game, giving the viewer a truly breathtaking walk down Nissan’s 90 year memory lane. Every example is in pristine condition, very well restored and cared for. Words can’t do them justice, and obviously there are far too many for me to cover in this single blog post.
I will touch on a few however. The original Datsuns from the 1930s were really cool. So many small details, and I have a soft spot for brand badges and hood ornaments. The leaping rabbit was a great touch. Then, there are the race cars. Especially the Super GT racers, like the 90s GT-Rs and the early 2000s Z just brought back so many memories from the pages of magazines. Getting to see them in person was such a treat.
Then, there was my own personal unicorn. The Skyline GT-R M-Spec Nur edition in Millennium Jade. I mean, seriously, it does not get better than this. I get goosebumps thinking about being so close to it, and looking back at these photos of it. Just a dream come true, and something every Nissan enthusiast would be lucky to experience.
