Singapore By Night

How can a tree be super? Does it put on a cape, and a ‘S’ to change into a hero? Or is it something more - a monument that shines like a beacon at night. Whatever you call it, these sculptures are definitely the main attraction of Singapore’s Gardens by the Bay, and they were mesmerizing at night with the backdrop of the Marina Bay Sands hotel.

Every now and then, I’ll find a subject, or a moment in time that takes my breath away. I get in the zone, and just want to photograph it from all angles, run around shooting until my arms are tired. This was one of those nights, and even looking at the back of the camera I could tell that the trees were simply glowing in their captures. Narrowing it down to just the few that were worth posting here was a challenge in itself, but I hope they are unconventional and interesting for a scene that has been so heavily published.

Of course, my night tour of Singapore wouldn’t be complete without a few more stops. A trip into the Cloud Forest, and a walk down by the Merlion Park provided more inspiration and ways to capture this gem of a city.

Enjoy these, and be sure to check out the ‘by day’ post for more.
